I'm a history graduate and the content of this site reflects some of my fairly diverse historical interests. This includes the military service of my grandfather in the First World War, and a brief biography of Marmaduke Rawdon, an unusual Royalist colonel in the English Civil War. Details of articles I have written about medieval Warwickshire can be found on the Publications page.
Sainte-Suzanne is a medieval walled town in Mayenne, about 30km west of Le Mans.
WebsiteA brief history, written a few year ago and in need of revision.
View and DownloadMy ancestors lived in Wethersfield in Essex and Elpenrod in Germany, amongst other places. I spent my early years in Grimsby and later moved to Leamington Spa. I took a degree in History and Archaeology at University College, Cardiff, and worked on digs at Llanthony Priory and Laugharne Castle. My first proper job turned out to be debt collecting for a London property company. I worked in commercial property management for a few years but then switched to property management software. I have been variously a trainer, tester, implementation consultant and business analyst. I studied for an M.Phil in Medieval History in my spare time in the 1990s and have had articles published in a number of academic journals. When time and funds allow I visit Normandy, The Western Front, Northumberland, and Pembrokeshire; failing which I browse the shelves at The Institute of Historical Research
I live in East London with a midwife, and support England Rugby. I once appeared in Mayfair magazine (Vol 20, No 4, 1985) and Rutger Hauer is my favourite movie actor.
